Alveston Methodist Church
The Church was dedicated in 1973, when it replaced the old village Methodist Church which was built in 1883, that Church is now a private dwelling.
Alveston Methodist Church is a modern building which has recently been totally refurbished; it has a hall, two meeting rooms, an excellent kitchen and toilet facilities including that for disabled persons. All the facilities are extensively used by the local community with a wide range of interests.
The Church maintains fairly close links with St. Helen's Anglican Church, although the joint ecumenical project involving both Churches regretfully was terminated a few years ago. However we continue to seek ways in which to share our work and witness within the local community.
As a Church we look for ways to reach out into our community with the practical love of God and the Good News of Jesus. Ongoing outreach activities includes the Luncheon Club and 'Holiday at Home' for older and lonely folk in the village, Breakfast Club, 'Holiday Club', Kool Club, Junior Church and Play and Praise which are designed for a wide range of children's ages, encouraging parents/carers involvement.
Church membership, although predominately mature is steady and active. We continually seek ways to bring others into the body of the Church.
