Bishopston Methodist Church.

Bishopston is in a suburban inner city area of Bristol, close to HM Prison Horfield. Surrounded by thriving shops, restaurants and schools, it is in an area of dense housing including many flats and sheltered housing for the elderly. It is an exciting, vibrant, diverse multi-cultural community. The Church is an active member of the ecumenical Bishopston Inter Church Group and gives financial support to The Methodist Centre for the homeless in Bristol and a village in India through Action Aid. We also support Traidcraft and Fair Trade.

The Church has 43 members and meets in a multi-purpose hall able to accommodate 100 people; the Church is an adapted, integral end-of-terrace house. Good use of the premises is made and there is a Church-run Playgroup, Weekly Lunch Club, Girls' Brigade Company, a weekly Bible Study Group, Music Group, House Groups and a regular Saturday coffee morning. The premises are also used by Narcotics Anonymous and the City Clickers Dance Group.

In 2006 two ventures began, an Early Bird short service once a month, aimed at those with younger families and a monthly afternoon Friends Club with a variety of speakers.

The intimate atmosphere provided by the small adaptable premises clearly meets the needs of a range of people in our community and the Church is seeking a Support Worker to help continue and develop the Church's outreach (see link to website).
