St. Andrew's, Filton
Our 10.30 a.m. worship on a Sunday tends to be fairly traditional, but each month we hold an informal Family Service involving all ages. Our children and young people enjoy their own groups on a Sunday which includes crèche facilities. Evening worship at 6.00 p.m. tends to be more reflective in its style.
St. Andrew's is blessed with a good choir and they play an important part in our worship. We also have a number of Local Preachers and Worship Leaders in our congregation. From time to time, we share in ecumenical services with other Christians within the Filton Covenant of Churches.
During the week, there are opportunities for prayer and bible study through house groups and a weekly prayer meeting at Church. Other forms of fellowship are provided through Wives' Club, Wesley Guild and Wednesday Fellowship. The children and young people share in fun and fellowship through Rainbows and Brownies and a Puppet Ministry Team, all of which meet weekly.
St. Andrew's seeks to reach out to the community in a number of ways including running an After School Club in a local School, organising a Traidcraft stall at a local produce market, holding a weekly Mums and Toddlers Group and serving a lunch twice weekly on its premises.
St. Andrew's also has a Youth Centre which undertakes open youth work in partnership with the local authority. There is a full-time Youth Worker supported by a number of part-time workers and volunteers who work with a range of young people aged 11-25 including some who have learning difficulties. The Centre also owns a narrow boat which is available for hire to groups and provides many opportunities for face- to-face work with young people (see link to website).
